Hotels in Newcastle for Long Weekends and City Breaks

Newcastle has transformed itself over the past few years into the north easts best destination for tourism and business. It’s had millions of pounds of investment to encourage businesses into the area and to totally redevelop the city centre turning it into one of the best places in the UK to live and work. Newcastle’s status as one of the best places in the uk to visit is confirmed by the fact that it’s won the Guardian best city break for the last four years. In fact Newcastle features so many wonderful sights it is difficult to know where to start but why don’t we begin with sport. It is well-known that the north east is really a hotbed of sporting fanaticism and seeing that Newcastle United are back again in the Premier league there are certain to be 1000s of football fans from across the country making the trip to St James’s Park. Another event which attracts 1000′s of people from all over the nation is the Great North Run. It is held on a yearly basis and raises millions of pounds for many different charitable groups. If you love shopping then you will undoubtedly love a trip to Newcastle. The MetroCentre is one of the biggest shopping centres in Europe with many hundreds of big name shops, restaurants and bars in one place. With the Newcastle Quayside Market opening in July 2010 and the already established Grainger market, Jesmond market along with the Farmers & Country market you’ll be hard pressed not to grab a bargain somewhere. One of the greatest attractions for many people is needless to say the Newcastle nightlife. The Quayside along with the Bigg market attract a lively, youthful crowd but for the slightly more mature there are dozens of traditional pubs, theatres and good quality places to eat. Naturally no trip to Newcastle could be called complete without trying one bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale or a visit to the brewery where it is made. As you would expect from a contemporary and dynamic city you will find there’s great choice of hotels in Newcastle to select from. From B&B’s to five star hotels there’s accommodation to match every pocket and I can personally suggest the Rosebery Hotel in Jesmond as a terrific place to stay.
