Hotels in Newcastle for Long Weekends and City Breaks

Newcastle has gone through something of a transformation in the last decade and it’s now the leading center for tourism and business in the north east of England. Millions of pounds of investment have rejuvenated the city centre transforming it into an appealing place to live and work and also helped to create thousands of new jobs.

Newcastle has been voted the United kingdom’s very best city break for 4 years consecutively in the Guardian travel honours and it’s easy to see why. In fact Newcastle has so many excellent sights it’s difficult to know where to start but why don’t we start with sport.

It is well known that the north east is a hotbed of sporting fanaticism and now that Newcastle United are back in the Premier league there are guaranteed to be 1000s of soccer fans from across the nation making the trip to St James’s Park. With the Newcastle Quayside Market opening up in July 2010 and the already established Grainger market, Jesmond market along with the Farmers & Country market you’ll be hard pressed not to get a bargain somewhere.

One of the greatest attractions for lots of people is of course the Newcastle night life. The Quayside along with the Bigg market attract a vibrant, youthful crowd and for the slightly more mature you will find dozens of traditional pubs, theatres and high quality dining places. And needless to say no trip to Newcastle could be complete with out trying the legendary Newcastle Brown Ale at least one time.
